In 1935, he studied at Ba Lang Primary Seminary in Tinh Gia, Thanh Hoa. After finishing primary school, Anh Bang went to Hanoi to study high school. During the years of resistance against the French, Anh Bang was imprisoned by the Viet Minh in Ly Ba So camp because his brothers rebelled against the Viet Minh. After being released, Anh Bang followed his family to live in Ba Chieu area, Saigon until 1975.
In 1957, Anh Bang joined the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, then moved to the War Department. Psychology in the 2nd Company of Culture and then demobilization in 1962. During his time in the army, Anh Bang joined the theater group of the Union of Engineers touring from Quang Tri to Binh Dinh as an actor and director. After being discharged from the army, Anh Bang returned to work on VTVN radio station, in charge of the New Wave department.
