- He followed his father to live in Hanoi from the age of seven. After that, he went to school and graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Finance - Accounting.
- In 1970, he joined the army, fought in the southern battlefield.
- Later, he worked as a senior accountant, working as chief accountant of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper and Vietnam Financial Times for many years.
- He is the former Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Financial Times, Chairman of the Finance Press Association. He used to work at the Ministry of Finance as an expert in business accounting, before becoming Editor-in-Chief of the Financial Times.
