Pakistani Urdu poet who is known for his poetry and philosophical ghazals. His collected work was published in 1989 under the title of Kuliyat-e-Majeed Amjad.
He lost his position as editor of the newspaper Arooj after the article published one of his anti-British poems.

He studied Persian and Arabic at a Punjab mosque and later entered Islamia College in Lahore. He published his first poetry collection, Shab-e-Rafta, in 1958.
