Nguyen Gia Thieu was a famous poet of the Le Hien Tong period.
Nguyen Gia Thieu was born into a family with many people working in the court. Grandfather Nguyen Gia Thieu was a martial officer in the court named Nguyen Gia Chau, because he was good at history, he was named Sieu Duke by the king. His paternal grandmother was the cousin of Lord Ghenh, the nanny of Lord Trinh Cuong. His father was also a good martial artist named Nguyen Gia Cu, who was appointed Duke by the king. Nguyen Gia Thieu has two uncles who are also military officers. His father married the daughter of Lord Trinh, Princess Quynh Lien. Nguyen Gia Thieu was married to the daughter of the Grand Master Tu Bui The Dat.
Nguyen Gia Thieu when he was 5 years old was allowed to enter the royal palace to study. In 1759. he was assigned to hold the position of lieutenant, managing the middle horse of the left team, when he was only 18 years old. In 1782, he was appointed as the General to guard the land of Hung Hoa. Nguyen Gia Thieu was highly trusted by Lord Trinh. Because of his many merits, he was named On Nhu Hau.
Despite being rewarded for making many achievements while serving as the General Staff in Hung Hoa, Nguyen Gia Thieu always had a passion for poetry and philosophy, so he often left his home to meet friends and discuss. discuss about this hobby.
In 1786, Tay Son army pulled troops to destroy Lord Trinh, he went to Hung Hoa mountain to hide. In 1789, Nguyen Hue defeated the Qing army and established the Tay Son court. The king refereed the referee, so he invited a number of former ministers to return to be mandarins, among them Nguyen Gia Thieu, but he refused. He returned to live in the old village, on June 22, 1798, he died at the age of 57.
