He graduated from pedagogical secondary school, University of Literature
From 1965 to 1966, he started working as a journalist and writer at Viet Bac Van Nghe magazine .
In 1968, he joined the Army of Communications. He was formerly a Lieutenant Colonel, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Information Newspaper, and former Deputy Director of Politics of the 596th Brigade (under the Information Command).
