Currently, she is the US Ambassador to the United Nations and is the first person of color to serve as the 116th governor of South Carolina and also the youngest governor ever. Previously, she was a member of the Republican Party and represented Lexington County in the South Carolina Congress from 2005 to 2010.

Nikki Haley graduated from Orangeburg Preparatory Schools, then she graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting from Clemson University. When she was a child from the age of 13, she helped her mother in the business and managing the accounting records. After graduating from school, she worked at FCR Corporation - a company that transfers waste management and recycling. In 1994, she returned to take over the family business and together with her mother built the luxury fashion company Exotica International, with sales reaching millions of dollars.
By the year 1998, she was appointed to the board of directors of the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce then in 2003 she became treasurer of the National Association of Women Business Owners and served on the board of the Chamber of Commerce. Lexington County Commerce
In 2004, she was elected to the South Carolina Congress then re-elected to subsequent terms in 2006 and 2008. She became governor of South Carolina on November 2, 2010 .

Nikki Haley was born into a Sikh Indian family in which her father Ajit Singh Randhawa was a biology professor and her mother Raj Kaur Randhawa was a clothing merchant. She has two brothers, Mitti and Charan, and one sister, Simran, who was born in Singapore.
