Tran Huy Lieu is a Vietnamese writer, revolutionary activist, historian, and journalist. He held many senior leadership positions (such as Minister of Information and Propaganda) in the first government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. He was the first president of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, a member of the East German Academy of Sciences.

Young / Before famous

- In 1924, he moved to the South to work with the newspapers Nong Co min Dam, Rang Dong, and was editor-in-chief of Dong Phap Times newspaper.
- In 1927. He was arrested by the French and sentenced to prison for his membership in patriotic organizations.
- In 1928, he founded Cuong study commune, specializing in publishing books promoting patriotism and raising people's intellectual level.
- In 1928, he joined the Vietnam Nationalist Party and organized the party in the South to hold the position of Secretary of the Southern flag. Then he was arrested by the French around August 1928, sentenced to 5 years in prison and exiled to Con Dao.
