After the August 1945 revolution succeeded, the Viet Minh forced the Vietnamese Imperial government to hand over power. Faced with this situation, the great mandarin Pham Khac Hoe advised Bao Dai to abdicate. On the morning of August 23, the two envoys of the Viet Minh were Cu Huy Can and Tran Huy Lieu has arrived at the Hue palace.
