The Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee was accused of accepting bribes in a case related to the super project of Dai Ninh Ecological Resort and Commercial Urban Area. On the afternoon of January 2, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security Lieutenant General To An Xo said Mr. Hiep was being detained. The Police Department of Investigation of Corruption, Economic and Smuggling Crimes (C03, Ministry of Public Security) arrested and detained for the crime of Receiving bribes specified in Clause 4, Article 354 of the Penal Code. The case belongs to the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption, negative monitoring and direction. At more than 3:00 p.m. on January 2, the C03 working group and the Supreme People's Procuracy went to Mr. Tran Van Hiep's house on Yersin Street, Ward 9, city Da Lat, read the indictment order, detained and searched Mr. Hiep's residence and workplace.
The corruption case of Mr. Tran Van Hiep is under the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption, negative monitoring and direction. After the Supreme People's Procuracy has approved the above decisions and orders. During the investigation process, the investigation agency also identified and clarified that Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Hiep had accepted bribes related to the commercial, tourism and resort urban area project. On January 3, Mr. Tran Van Hiep's relatives said they had paid 4.2 billion VND through the Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security to remedy the consequences for Mr. Hiep.
