He formed the pop metal band Razzle in 1988 with bassist Kevin Baldes and guitarist Sean Holland. He played the band's drums. In 1989 he became the band's vocalist and they added his brother Jeremy as a guitarist and Allen Schellenberger as a drummer. They changed their name to Stain in1994, but abandoned the name in favor of Lit due to legal problems in 1996.
He married Belinda Popoff and together they had a daughter.
