Nguyen Thanh Hiep's real name is Tang Hoang Thuan and is a familiar name to many audiences who love opera and opera. He graduated with a degree in directing from the City University of Theater and Cinema. HCM class 1992 - 1997. Director Thanh Hiep is one of the active faces in the theater field in Ho Chi Minh City, not only responsible for composing and staging but also participating in many theoretical, critical activities and connecting artists with the public. He is the founder of the program “Dialogue space: The play and the public” at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, creating conditions for artists participating in famous plays to have the opportunity to exchange, share opinions and present their artistic discoveries and creations to the audience.
Director Thanh Hiep's latest scripts: "Fire Warrior" (awarded C by the Vietnam Theater Artists Association - a competition without A Prize, after he participated in the 2025 Theater Script Creation Camp held in Tam Dao); "Agarwood Song" (composed by him, staged at Hong Van Theater); "Fragrance between two sides of history" (Participate in the Theater Script Writing Camp at Can Tho 2026); “Good People” (Participate in the Creative Camp at Phan Thiet organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association in 2026); “The Legend of Yet Kieu” (water puppetry genre staged by the Phuong Nam Art Theater of the Ho Chi Minh City Art Center in 2025).
In addition, he also composed and staged Cai Luong plays performed in historical theater programs serving children's audiences organized by the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City such as: Flag embroidered with six golden letters (Tran Quoc Toan); Mai An Tiem (legend of Mai An Tiem); Victory at Bach Dang Giang; Brave General Nguyen Dia Lo; Meaning of Tran Binh Trong; Queen Mother Duong Van Nga; Filial piety comes first; Tu Duc offering whips (King Tu Duc and Lady Tu Du); Lam Son flag; Hero Nguyen Trung Truc…
