After attending Berklee College of Music for 3 years, she began her musical career as a member of the rock band The Polyphonic Spree. She was also a member of the touring band Sufjan Stevens before forming her own band in 2006.
St. Vincent released her debut album "Marry Me" in 2007, followed by "Actor" in 2009 and "Strange Mercy" in 2011. In 2012 she and the male rock singer David Byrne released an album titled "This Love Giant". St. Vincent was also featured on Swans' 2014 album "To Be Kind". On February 25, 2014 she released her fourth studio album, "St. Vincent", which has been named album of the year by Entertainment Weekly, The Guardian, NME, and Slant Magazine, and is also the second best album. of the year according to Time magazine. The album also won the Grammy Award for "Best Alternative Album", which was also the singer's first Grammy Award. By winning this award, St. Vincent has become the first solo female singer in 20 years to win this category.
St. Vincent also opened rehearsal programs such as: Andrew Bird, The National, The Black Keys, Arcade Fire, Jolie Holland, Death Cab for Cutie, Cristina Donà, John Vanderslice, Xiu Xiu, and Grizzly Bear. In 2015 St. Vincent performed Wire in Chicago as part of the Drill Festival. St. Vincent has also been described by critics as an exceptional and creative musical talent over the past decade.
