- When he came to the US, Truong Vu gave up because he was too passionate about music. Encouraged by his friends, Truong Vu sought out musician Duy Khanh to study and was instructed in Vietnamese pronunciation and the art of ligature to describe music of the genre that Truong Vu found suitable.
- In 1983, he crossed the border and then settled in Los Angeles. During my time in Los Angeles, I listened to old recordings from my hometown through the voice of Che Linh and Duy Khanh has greatly influenced his later career.
