Best known for her "Adaptive Model of Nursing," this influential writer, college professor, and nurse-trained nurse received the American Academy's "Living Legend" nursing designation in 2007.
She taught for many years at the William F. Connell Boston College School of Nursing and, in the early 1990s, founded the first organization known as BBARNS (Boston Based Adaptation Studies Boston-Based Nursing Society) ) and then the Roy Adaptation Society.
