Best known for her portrayal of Marilyn Whirlwind on the 1990s CBS series North Exposure, she was also noted for her appearances in the films Tortilla Heaven (2007) and Naked Fish (2015). In addition, she pursued a career as a dancer and stand-up comedian.
Her accurate depiction, in Exposure North, of a character of the indigenous Pacific group Northwestern Tlingit earned her a 1993 Native American Woman of the Year honor.

She spent her childhood learning the traditional tribal arts of dance and storytelling and the crafts of weaving, beading, and pottery. She auditioned for and was selected to Exposure North by accident; she has never acted before and was at the audition site just because she pushed her mother to call the casting.
A native of Pendleton, Oregon, and a descendant of members of the Cayuse and Nez Perce Native American tribes, Miles spent the first three years of his life on the Umatilla reservation in Oregon and the rest of of childhood in Renton, Washington.
