From there, he worked as a celebrity interviewer and hosted a number of shows online before moving on -Co-Live Earth with Karen Duffy. He has also hosted the podcast One Drink With Dave and the international water quiz shows.
After becoming a columnist for Esquire, he later released the June 2016 memoir The Party of One Through Penguin Random House.

He grew up in St. Louis with his parents, Charles and Mary Lou, and his two older brothers, Dan and Steve. In 2002, he came out as gay in Out magazine.
