Who is Vietnam War Hero Nguyen Thi Chien?
Nguyen Thi Chien is the first female Hero of the People's Armed Forces of the Vietnam People's Army. She held the position of lieutenant colonel in the army.
Nguyen Thi Chien grew up in a poor family in Thai Binh. She was born in a time when the country was at war, because her parents died when she was very young, so Nguyen Thi Chien had to live at a young age and her life was very hard. When the August revolution succeeded, at this time Nguyen Thi Chien was an adult, she no longer lived but returned home to do business, received revolutionary propaganda by our Party, and saw the oppressed and miserable life of the Vietnamese people. From then on, she joined the revolutionary team in her homeland.
From 1946-1952, she made a significant contribution to the construction of resistance bases in 5 villages, commanding the Travel Team. During a raid against the French army, Nguyen Thi Chien killed, wounded and captured 15 enemy soldiers.
While leading cadres and cadres back to local revolutionary activities, April 1950 , she was captured by the enemy, for more than 3 months she was beaten and tortured by them, but with her brave patriotism she was not determined to submit to them.
Nguyen Thi Chien was shot and seriously injured 1 the enemy, 6 were captured alive, and 4 guns were seized in an ambush against the enemy on Route 39, in October 1951.
12/1951 Nguyen Thi Chien commanded the guerrilla team to storm out. captured 4 French soldiers p when the French army entered the village.
Nguyen Thi Chien was elected by the State Party as a national emulation soldier. She is the first female Hero of the People's Armed Forces to be honored by the state.
Nguyen Thi Chien returned to work at the General Department of Politics, the capital's military zone, after the resistance war against the French. In 1984, Nguyen Thi Chien was promoted to lieutenant colonel.
Nguyen Thi Chien was awarded the First-class Victory Medal, the third-class Military Merit Medal, and two first-class resistance medals.
On the 1st of May. In June 2016, Nguyen Thi Chien passed away at Duc Giang General Hospital, Long Bien, Hanoi, at the age of 87.
