Who is Vietnam War Hero Nguyen Van Ba?
Nguyen Van Ba is a hero of the Vietnam War and a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He is a retired colonel.
In 1954, he was sent to the North to assemble, and was chosen to learn to fly an aircraft. In the years 1963 to 1964, the North was invaded by American and puppet troops, including using spy machines. Regiment 919 was assigned to use T28 aircraft to fight enemy aircraft. The T28, of unknown origin, without a mechanic or a replacement, was assigned this important task by his superiors. On February 15, 1964, his crew discovered the enemy's C123, with 3 rounds of accurate firing, he shot and crashed this C123. This is the first achievement of our air force shooting down enemy aircraft over the North.
Nguyen Van Ba has performed many different tasks, in any mission, in any situation, he successfully completed it. In March 1973, he was the head of the reception team at Loc Ninh and Thien Ngon airports. He commanded his teammates to disassemble the American plane from Loc Ninh and move it to the North to assemble for soldiers to practice. In March 1975, he made an income at Tan Son Nhat airport. In 1976, he worked as the director of Tan Son Nhat airport. From 1978 to 1979, he was the director of the A75 workshop. In 1990, he was transferred to the General Department of Civil Aviation, until 1994 he retired, holding the rank of colonel.
Nguyen Van Ba was awarded 3 3rd Class Victory Medals by the State.
On August 30, 1995, Nguyen Van Ba was conferred the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.
