Jim Rohn is an American businessman, author, and motivational speaker.
Jim Rohn began his career as a stock salesman for Sears. Around this time, he was invited by a friend to listen to a lecture by businessman John Earl Shoaff. In 1955 he entered the sales business with Shoaff's AbundaVita as a distributor. In 1957, he resigned as distributor at AbundaVita and joined Nutri-Bio, a direct selling company. During this time, the founders of Nutri-Bio, including Shoaff, mentored him. After learning from the founder's experience, Rohn established the largest agency of this company. In 1960, Nutri-Bio expanded to Canada, and Shoaff and his co-founder made Rohn vice president of the branch.
In the early 1960s, Jim Rohn was invited to speak at meetings. of his Rotary Club and at many other parties and events. In 1963 at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Rohn opened his first workshop to exchange his experiences. He then held seminars in various parts of the country, where he told the story of his career journey and shared his personal philosophies in life and business. In addition, he travels around the world giving similar seminars.
Jim Rohn mentors entrepreneur Mark R. Hughes (founder of Herbalife International) and speaks to Tony Robbins in late 1970. In 1985 he was awarded the National Speakers Association CPAE Award.
Businessman Jim Rohn died on February 5, 2009 due to pulmonary fibrosis. His remains were interred in the Lawn Memorial Park Forest in Glendale, California.
