Young / Before famous

  • As a child, he attended French-Vietnamese Primary School in Hoa Binh Town, then moved to Hanoi to continue his secondary education.
  • In 1947, he enlisted in the army, he was assigned to work at the Chien (Interzone 4) newspaper
  • He was admitted to the Communist Party Indochina in 1948.
  • In 1950, he was asked by Mr. Luu Van Loi to transfer to the People's Army Newspaper. He was also one of the first editors of the Military Arts Magazine in 1957, a cultural officer of the Vietnam People's Army Propaganda Department, the rank of battalion political officer (equivalent to Major).
  • In June 1958, he was transferred to work at the Literature newspaper of the Vietnam Writers' Association and was admitted as a member. He used to hold the following positions: Secretary of Literature newspaper (now Van Nghe), Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Van Nghe newspaper, Director of New Works Publishing House (now Writers' Association Publishing House). At the same time, he was also elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Writers Association courses I, II, III, IV, General Secretary of the Vietnam Writers Association, term IV.
  • He was elected as the Member of the 9th National Assembly of Vietnam.
  • In 1994, he retired.

Family life info

His wife is writer Thanh Huong, former Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Women's Newspaper, biological son of Dr. Nguyen Huy Nhu. They have a son, painter Vu Huy. A grandson is a supermodel Vu Ha Anh (son of Vu Huy).
Writer Vu Ngoc Binh and poet Vu Cao are his two biological brothers.
