As a child, Nguyen Nhat Anh studied at Tieu La, Tran Cao Van and Phan Chu Trinh schools. Since 1973, Nguyen Nhat Anh moved to Saigon and studied pedagogy. The work Before the Final Round (Mang Non Publishing House, 1985) was his first long story. He has focused on writing prose, specializing in writing about youth topics for the past 20 years.
The long story "The Troubled Boy" in 1990 was awarded the Grade A Young Literature Prize by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee. In 1995, he was voted as the most favorite writer for 20 years (1975-1995). ).
