Artist Ha Thi Cau's birth name is Ha Thi Nam, born in Yen Phu, Y Yen, Nam Dinh province. During difficult economic years, artisan Ha Thi Cau always followed the art of Xam singing. In 1977, she wrote and performed the song "Follow the Party for a lifetime". This Xam song has been performed by her at national mass festivals and won many gold medals and special awards. From 1981 to 1982, artist Ha Thi Cau was invited by the Hanoi Conservatory of Music to be in charge of the art program to welcome the 5th National Party Congress.
In 1998, artist Ha Thi Cau received a certificate of merit from the Voice of Vietnam and a special prize "Artist in singing cheo in Ninh Binh province" in the National Festival of Excerpts from Cheo Tuong.
Artist Ha Thi Cau received the 2008 Dao Tan Award for his contribution in preserving the national artistic treasure.
In 2004, artisan Ha Thi Cau was awarded the title of Folk Artist by the Vietnam Folk Arts Association and was awarded the title of Excellent Artist by the State of Vietnam.
