Her birth name is Dina Hutton, but she changed her last name to Merrill as an act of rebellion against her father, who hated that she was pursuing acting and hated her competitor, Charlie Merrill by Merrill Lynch. She is the only daughter of Marjorie Merriweather Post, the heir to the Cards empire.
