Who is Band Coldplay?
Coldplay deserves to be an icon for contemporary rock music. The musical heritage and the glued bond between the 5 members are worthy of admiration. Experts consider Coldplay to be a rare commodity of the British music industry. Coldplay's forte is alternative rock with iconic lyrics. Coldplay's lyrics are likened to poems.
During its 20 years of operation, Coldplay has never changed personnel. Only once did the press find out about the discord between the leader Chris Martin and Will Champion in 1999. Will Champion was kicked out of the group by the leader after a big argument. Unable to stand for more than a week, team leader Chris decided to convince Will to return.
The group won many major music awards such as: 7 Grammy Awards out of 26 nominations, 8 Brit Awards, 4 times won Best Band, 5 MTV Video Music Awards, 4 Sound Awards Billboard music, 3 World Music Awards. Coldplay is the 3rd group in history to own 5 albums at the top of the music charts in the first week of their debut, after the legendary The Beatles (11 albums) and Oasis (7 albums).
The band was formed by vocalist Chris Martin and guitarist Jonny Buckland. After Guy Berryman joined the band as bass guitar, the band changed its name to Starfish. By the time Will Champion joined the group as a drummer and backing vocalist, the band's quartet was complete. Creative director Phil Harvey is considered the fifth member of the band. In 1998, the band changed its official name to Coldplay. In 1999, Coldplay officially stepped onto the professional stage. Coldplay began to gain global popularity after the release of the single "Yellow" in 2000. The group's biggest success was the album "Parachutes" with more than 8.5 million albums sold worldwide. Coldplay is considered one of the most successful artists of the millennium with more than 50 million albums sold.
