Tran Tuan Minh is one of the prominent chess players of Vietnam among the young generation. Born in 1997 in Hanoi, Tran Tuan Minh soon affirmed his talent on the chessboard and gradually rose to become an international Grandmaster (Grandmaster - GM). Not only does he possess a noble title in the world chess industry, he also impresses with his achievement of winning the national championship 5 times in men's standard chess content and many marks in the international arena.
Tran Tuan Minh has FIDE code 12401820 and is known as one of the players with stable performance in Vietnamese chess. He was awarded the title of International Master (IM) in 2014, before officially becoming a Grandmaster in 2017. Also in this year, Tran Tuan Minh's Elo coefficient reached a career high of 2,558, a milestone showing the Hanoi player's position in the international chess industry.
Tran Tuan Minh's path to the GM title is the result of persistent training and competition. When he was young, he had the opportunity to attend many domestic and international tournaments, thereby gaining experience and improving his professional qualifications. 2017 was one of the most memorable years in Tran Tuan Minh's career when he was both awarded the title of Grandmaster and won the national standard chess championship. In the same year, the Vietnamese player also won two gold medals at the Asian Youth Chess Championship and was crowned at the IGB Dato Arthur Tan International Open Chess Championship.
After winning his first national championship, Tran Tuan Minh continued to show remarkable stability. In 2018, he successfully defended the national chess championship with 7/9 points. This victory further strengthens Tran Tuan Minh's position in the group of top male chess players in Vietnam. Not stopping there, he also made his mark in international tournaments by winning the Bhopal GM Open championship in India and Pattaya Open in Thailand.
After a number of years of continuing to compete in international tournaments, Tran Tuan Minh returned strongly at the national championship. In 2021, he won the men's standard chess event for the third time. One year later, the Hanoi player continued to win the throne with a score of 8/9 points. By 2023, Tran Tuan Minh once again won the gold medal with 8/9 points, thereby increasing his total number of standard chess national championships to 5 times, in 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
In addition to domestic tournaments, Tran Tuan Minh also represented Vietnam many times to compete at international playgrounds. He participated in the 2018 Chess Olympiad held in Batumi, Georgia, one of the most important team tournaments in the world chess industry. At the 2021 SEA Games, Tran Tuan Minh also contributed to the success of the Vietnamese chess team when he and his teammates won the men's team gold medal. In 2024, Tran Tuan Minh continues to make another notable mark on his home field. At the Hanoi 2024 Grandmaster - International Grandmaster Chess Tournament, he competed in the International Grandmaster group and won the championship with 6/9 points.
