Pham Kim Nhan - Poor childhood and early years of making a living
Pham Kim Nhan was born into a family with difficult circumstances. Ever since he was in 2nd grade, he followed his older brother to sell lottery tickets to help his family. For more than 10 years, his life has been associated with sunny and windy roads, one day going to school, one day traveling to make a living.
Athlete Pham Kim Nhan possesses a solid physique, healthy skin and an appearance older than his age. He humorously said that many people who first met him often thought he was over 45, because he had to do hard labor since he was very young.
Turning point in life: from selling lottery tickets to his first gym
At the age of 17, while selling lottery tickets past a gym, Pham Kim Nhan was strongly attracted by the image of toned, strong bodies. Without hesitation, he signed up to practice with a very simple wish: "to be beautiful and healthy like them."
At that time, Pham Kim Nhan had almost no training knowledge and no nutritional conditions. After each training session, a meal of just white rice and meat and fish is a luxury. However, every day after selling lottery tickets, he regularly goes to the gym to practice from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
From construction assistant to bodybuilder: not an easy trade-off
Realizing that nutrition is the key factor to develop muscles, athlete Pham Kim Nhan decided to quit selling lottery tickets and switch to working as a construction assistant - a hard job but bringing more stable income. Every day, he has to bask in the sun from morning to afternoon, but after each training session, he gets 1-2 ounces of chicken breast.
Also during this period, Pham Kim Nhan was a student at Polytechnic University - majoring in Civil Construction. However, in the 5th year, with the desire to step onto the professional stage, he made a bold decision: to drop out of college to pursue bodybuilding, despite facing many worries from his family.
Consecutive failures and a "transformation" thanks to knowledge
In 2008, Pham Kim Nhan first participated in the National Club Cup in the 55kg weight category and received defeat.
In 2009, he continued to try but the results remained unchanged. His family advised him to stop, practicing was a waste of money and got nowhere. But Pham Kim Nhan did not give up.
During the day he worked as a construction assistant, practiced in the afternoon, and at night he taught himself bodybuilding knowledge via the internet, studying the textbooks of previous athletes. Thanks to changing training methods and scientific diet, in 2011, Pham Kim Nhan returned in the 65kg weight class, winning the National Championship bronze medal, officially opening a new chapter in his career.
