She was the concubine of Mr. Nghe Thao, a great official in the Hue court.
When she was pregnant, Mr. Thao had to return to Hue. Mr. Thao's eldest wife is King Khai Dinh's sister, because of jealousy, she sent someone to bring poison to Hanoi to kill Mrs. Ly.
When receiving news that Minh Ly's father and son immediately ran to hide in Thai Binh. When the child was not full, Minh Ly had to send the child to be raised by his stepmother, while she had to hide from the temple door to take refuge in order to avoid murder.
Later, she was falsely accused by a chief of staff, but was rescued by the Thai Binh government, Phan Hoc Hai. Mr. Hai proposed to her and she agreed. Mrs. Ly returned to work as the concubine of Phan Hoc Hai, but still lived with her father and sang. After 10 years, because she could not bear the same situation with her husband, she decided to break up with Phan Hoc Hai.
