Pauline Kael is an American film critic who wrote reviews for the film production company Feisty in The New Yorker magazine from 1968 to 1991. She is known as a popular commentator for her witty writing style. Witty yet powerful, she is considered one of the most influential American film critics. Young / Before famous

After her parents died, Pauline Kael moved with other family members to San Francisco. In 1936, she matriculated at the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in philosophy, literature, and art. However, she dropped out of school before completing her degree. She then moved with the artists to New York City, after three years she returned to San Francisco and worked as a playwright and experimental film producer. And to be able to pay for the living as well as the medical expenses for his daughter - Gina, the father worked many jobs such as cooking, tailoring, advertising. In 1953, she officially became a regular film critic with the magazine with her first film "Slimelight"
With successful broadcast on public radio stations in Berkerley, she became manager of the Berkeley Cinema Guild from 1955 to 1960.
In 1965, she published her first book, "I Lost It at the Movies", which had sold 150,000 copies and became a best-selling book at the time. She also became a staff member of women's magazine McCall and was fired in 1966. From 1966 to 1967 she briefly worked for The New Republic newspaper. In 1980, she became a film critic after taking a year off from work in the film industry.
