Who is Upper Minister Tran Van Tra?
Senior Lieutenant General Tran Van Tra, whose real name is Nguyen Chan, is known as a commanding officer in the Vietnam People's Army.
Originally from a farming family, since childhood he attended elementary school. studied at Quang Ngai then, he attended Hue School of Practical Technology. In 1936, he joined the Hue Democratic Youth Union and joined the Communist Party in 1938. ; during this time he was imprisoned twice by the French colonialists.
After 1945, he held the position of Member of the Viet Minh branch of South Vietnam; After the war broke out in the South, he was the captain of the 14th Division, then the leader of the 8th Zone and a member of the Southern Party Committee from 1946 to 1948.
From 1949 to 1950, he was the Commander. cum Political Commissar of Saigon - Cho Lon Zone under the Command of Zone 7 and Deputy Commander of the South, Commander of the Southeast Division from 1951 to 1954.
From 1955, he moved to the North and took charge assumed the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; in 1958, he was Deputy Director of the General Department of Military Training and Director of the Military Academy and Chief Justice of the Central Military Court in 1961.
From 1963 to 1967, he was again sent to the South to take charge. the Commander of the South Liberation Army and from 1973 to 1975. he was the Deputy Commander of the Southern Liberation Army; from 1968 to 1972, he was Deputy Secretary of the Military Commission of the South Vietnamese Liberation Army.
