Director Ngo Manh Lan is the choreographer of many famous cartoons, the artist of many unique and impressive paintings and graphic works. In 1955, director Ngo Manh Lan was sent to the Soviet Union to study cartoon design painter. In 1962, he graduated and returned to Vietnam to start his career. In 193, he embarked on making his first film "A Dream".
Then he staged the cartoon "Kittens". The film won the Silver Pelican Award at the Mamaia Film Festival in 1966. "The Cat" is the first Vietnamese animated film to win the award at the International Film Festival. In 1970, "Kitten" won the Golden Lotus award at the National Film Festival.
In 1969, director Ngo Manh Lan embarked on the production of the film "The story of Mr. Giong". This film won the Golden Dove Award at the Leipzik International Film Festival (GDR). This is also a movie associated with his career and name, so fans still call him by his name "Lan Giong".
Ngo Manh Lan is also a painter, a member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association since 1982. He composed many genres such as sketches, cartoons, posters, oil paintings, stamp covers, book covers, comics. .. In 1971, he held a painting exhibition for the first time. In November 2006, he held the 2nd exhibition. At the end of May 2014, the 3rd painting exhibition of Ngo Manh Lan was held at the 16 Ngo Quyen Fine Art Exhibition House, Hanoi.
