Vu Van Tu is a football player of the football club Hai Phong. He is the coach of the Quang Nam Workers team - Da Nang and the coach who led the Vietnamese team to attend. SEA Games 16.
From 1960-1970, Vu Van Tu was known to the Vietnamese audience when he played for the Hai Phong Football Club team. During the competition, he was nicknamed "Crocodile". He and players Nguyen Van Tuc also known as Tuc Gu, Hoang Kinh Op and Dang Ngoc Viet became the most powerful attacking quartet of Hai Phong Football Club. In the 1984-1985 season, Vu Van Tu started working as a coach for the Quang Nam - Da Nang Workers' team. The players were taught by him the basics that he had learned in the Northern football environment, so they played with more depth and technique. Under the guidance of coach Vu Van Tu, the golden players of the Quang Nam - Da Nang Workers' team include: Tran Vu, Phan Trong Quang, Bui Nho Duc, Nguyen Van Minh, Phu Nga, Pham Phu Hung, Tran Minh Toan, Phan Thanh Hung, brothers Bui Thong Tuan/ Tan, Truong Van Loi, Phan Cong Thin, Le Van Sinh... brought Quang Nam - Da Nang Cong Nhan team to the top in Vietnamese football. Under the guidance of coach Vu Van Tu, the Quang Nam - Da Nang Workers' team consecutively won the A1 prize in 1987, 1990, 1991, equivalent to the current V-League. In 1992, this team won the national championship.
On December 10, 2015, coach Vu Van Tu passed away in Da Nang, at the age of 78.
