Henrique Calisto, full name Henrique Manuel da Silva Calisto, is a former head coach of the Vietnam national football team. Before becoming a coach, he was a player for the Leixões SC team in the Portuguese National Championship. The last team he played for was A. D. Fafe. He was a member of the technical coaching committee of the Portuguese Football Federation.
Calisto began his coaching career from 1980-1981 at the Boavista FC team At the 1980 Portuguese championship- 1981, Calisto and his students won 4 times, drew 4 matches and lost 2 matches, ending the season Boavista F. C took 4th place in this tournament. In 1982, he became the coach of the S. C. Salgueiros team helping the team rise to second place in the season. In the summer of 1986, he returned to lead the Varzim SC team, but he was fired in the 1987-1988 season. In January 1995, he returned to coach the team Rio Ave F. C. But after only 13 rounds, he was fired in the 199-1997 season for setting a record of 13 games without a win. After leaving Rio Ave F. C, he returned to coach the F. C. Paços de Ferreira team. He has coached Portuguese First and Premier League clubs. He is a member of the technical coaching council of the Portuguese Football Federation.
Since 2002, Calisto started his coaching career in Vietnam. During 8 years working in Vietnam. He led Dong Tam Long An football team to win the title of V-League Champion, and won the bronze medal of Tiger Cup 2002, won the AFF Cup trophy in 2008. As a head coach of the football team. Vietnam national football team, he led the team to become the 2008 Southeast Asian football championship. On March 2, 2011, coach Calisto announced his resignation as head coach in a press conference. held at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation.
