Poet Hoai Anh's real name is Tran Trung Phuong, he was originally named Quoc To (water transport), a descendant of the Tran Dynasty. He is from Van Ap, Bo De, Binh Luc, Ha Nam, the eldest son of a family with a tradition of studious and patriotic.
He is a member of Vietnam Writers Association, Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, Vietnam Theater Artists Association.
Hoai Anh is a multi-talented writer, besides writing poetry, he also writes, researches critically, writes scripts and has made remarkable contributions to contemporary Vietnamese art and literature.
He died on March 24, 2011 in Ho Chi Minh City, at the age of 74.
