United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York known to preside over such high-profile cases as the Securities and Exchange Commission v. Citigroup and Associated Press v. Defense Department.
He teaches classes at Columbia University's Law School and he has published many articles on the topic of the legal treatment of white-collar crime. In the case of 2002 United States v. Quinones, he ruled that, at the federal level, the death penalty was unconstitutional.
