He participated in the resistance war against the French since 1947, was a volunteer propaganda member of the Viet Minh General Department of Youth and Youth Affairs, then a member of the Viet Bac Inter-regional Information and Propaganda Department.
He used to be a teacher, an officer of the Youth Union, editor of Kim Dong Publishing House, Literature and New Works.
From 1987 to 1990, he was the head of the literature group, then the editor-in-chief of the New Works Publishing House.
From 1990 to 1996, He is the director of the Writers Association Publishing House.
From 1998 - 2004: he was the Chairman of the Prose Council of the Vietnam Writers' Association.
