He is a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam; Member of the Vietnam Writers' Association (1965)
In 1959, he translated the work Don Quixote into Vietnamese under the pseudonym Hoang Huy, also the first person to translate this work.
He passed away on June 15, 2007 in Hanoi.

- He joined the Democratic Youth Organization in Hue in 1935, while studying for a Baccalaureate at Quoc Hoc Hue.
- In 1939, he became the leader of the Anti-Democratic Youth group. in Hue.
- After that, he was arrested by the French authorities in Thua Phu prison in September 1941, and sent to his hometown indefinitely under house arrest.
- After 1945 , he was appointed by the Viet Minh government as a Commissioner of Justice of Da Nang city. When the French army re-occupied the South, he was appointed to the position of Vice Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the City Resistance Da Nang .
- He worked as a political juror (ie, deputy chief justice) of the military court of South Vietnam from 1947 - 1954.
- After gathering to the North, he held the position Member of the Central Children's Committee, in charge of children's literature. He is one of the founding participants and used to hold the position of Director of Kim Dong Publishing House. After that, he was appointed as the Director of the Vietnam Animation Studio.
- He was admitted as a member of the Vietnam Writers Association in 1965.
- In 1968, he returned to work at the Ministry of Culture.
- Un 1971, transferred to the Vietnam Writers' Association, was assigned to be the chairman of the Children's Literature Council of the Vietnam Writers' Association and held this position until he retired.
