Nguyen Gia Tri is considered "the father of modern Vietnamese lacquer paintings". Currently, his works are displayed at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum and the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum. His famous lacquer painting works such as: Along the mosquito net, North Central South Spring Garden, Rural Landscape.
Painter Nguyen Gia Tri is also the one who brought lacquer painting technique to the top, affirming determining the importance of lacquer paintings in Vietnamese art. Typical lacquer works such as: Rural Scenery (1939), Girl by the elm tree (1944).
In the 1960s and 1970s, Nguyen Gia Tri's compositions were in an abstract style. However, he still sticks to the romantic style.
Nguyen Gia Tri is also an astute cartoonist under the pseudonym Rait (Right). He drew many satirical pictures of the French colonial government and the feudal mandarins and minions in the Phong Hoa newspaper, the Today newspaper.
