Who is Painter Vivi Vo Hung Kiet?
Painter and sculptor ViVi Vo Hung Kiet is known for his many illustrations and children's comics in Vietnam.
Since 1958, ViVi Vo Hung Kiet has had printed comic books. in Tuoi Tre newspaper. But because his parents were against him for painting, he fled to Nha Trang since 1961. In Nha Trang, he entered the Seminary of the Brothers of the La Salle Brothers (Frère des Ecoles Chrétiens). After 3 years, ViVi Vo Hung Kiet completed his graduation and registered to participate in the National School of Saigon Fine Arts College. From 1964, he started drawing for the monthly magazine Tuoi Hoa newspaper with the pen name ViVi, and at the same time began to draw stamps. In 1965, he participated in a stamp drawing contest organized by the General Director of Postal Service of the Republic of Vietnam and won the first prize. It was also from this time that he took his real name Vo Hung Kiet to sign on stamp works. In 1968, after graduating from ViVi Fine Arts College, Vo Hung Kiet joined the army to work in Room 7 (Technical Reconnaissance) General Staff of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. During this time, he continued to create illustrations, comics and draw stamps for many books, newspapers and post offices. From 1965 to 1975, painter ViVi Vo Hung Kiet won 33 postage stamp awards, of which 27 were the first prize winners. Selected by the General Post Office to print postal flowers on the territory of the Republic of Vietnam.

From 1965-1975, ViVi held 3 exhibitions in Saigon. Abroad, he has held art exhibitions in Dong Kinh - Japan, Bangkok - Thailand, Van Tuong - Laos. After 1975, ViVi was mentioned more through sculptures, including "Vietnam Boat People Memorial" erected at Peek Family Cemetery, "Statue of Vietnamese Martyrs 1 " is located at Maria Lewinston Garden (New York), "The Statue of Vietnamese Martyrs 2" is located in Austin, Texas, "The Statue of Vietnamese Mary" in Amarillo, Texas, "The Statue of the Boat People Crossing the Sea" in Santa Ana, California, "Statue of Canadian Prime Minister", Statue of Father Tran Dinh Thu.

In 1981, ViVi Vo Hung Kiet crossed the Canadian border, lived in Montréal until 1995, when he moved to the United States, living in San Diego. Currently he is living in California, USA.

The wife of painter ViVi Vo Hung Kiet is a writer and singer Diem Chau. She is also a painter under the pen name Cat Don Sa.
