Vu Dinh Long is a famous Vietnamese playwright. He is one of the unique and most influential cultural art activists of our country in the twentieth century. He has produced many impressive works and his work "The Poison Cup" is considered as a pioneering work of Vietnamese theater art.
His name is often associated with the producer. Tan Dan editions and newspapers Saturday Novel, Semi-Monthly Popular, Useful. He is also a talented and enthusiastic sponsor for many literary works that today have become classics and pride of the nation's literature.
The work "The Cup of Poison" " His three acts were published in Huu Thanh magazine No. 4 and 5 in September 1921, considered the first work of Vietnamese literature and drama. The work has created a great resonance because of its new form, it reflects the conflict between lust and conscience, between social evils and family happiness. Besides, it also criticizes the depraved way of life of middle-class urbanites, who refuse to do business and then go bankrupt.

After the August Revolution, he joined the Cultural Association for National Salvation, when peace was restored he stayed in the North, became a member of the Vietnam Writers' Association, was elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Association of Dramatic Artists, term I.
