He was born into a poor peasant family, who was a revolutionary base. He used to work as a transport worker at the Central Supply Committee in the Safety of Tan Trao War Zone.
In 1952, he followed his family back to Hanoi to work as a typewriter, supplementing with culture and foreign languages.
