Nguyen Sinh Hung was born and raised in a family of 5 children. He attended primary and secondary school at Nam Dan, then went to Hanoi to study high school at Viet Duc School (Hanoi). His family once lived at 54 Hue Street, Hanoi. He was a student at the University of Finance and Accounting (now the Academy of Finance) (1966-1970).
