Tong Khanh Linh is the wife of the first President of China, the Republic of China - Ton Yat-sen . She is one of three sisters surnamed Song, whose husbands are all prominent politicians in China. After the reunification of China in 1949, Song Qingling stayed in China to hold the position of vice president of the People's Republic of China. She is considered "the mother of modern China".
In October 1915, she married Sun Yat-sen in Japan, but before that she had a whole life as Lo Mo Trinh. Tong Khanh Linh is 26 years younger than Sun Yat-sen, so when her grandparents got married, her family strongly opposed her. In 1925, her husband died, and she was elected to the Central Committee of the Kuomintang party the following year. After arriving in Moscow, she was killed because the Kuomintang carried out a campaign to suppress and kill pro-communists.
During the Chinese Civil War, Tong Khanh Linh sided with the Communists. Although before that, from 1937-1945, she repeatedly reconciled with the Kuomintang during the Sino-Japanese War. Not being admitted to the Communist Party of China, Song Qingling founded the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, which was part of the United Front (today the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, is the second party to the communist party).
In 1939, she founded the China Defense League, later the China Welfare Institute. The institute's committee specializes in issues, early childhood education, maternal and child health and a wide range of children's activities. In the early 1950s, with the help of Israel Epstein, Tong Khanh Linh founded China Reconstructs magazine, today China Today. This magazine has published monthly monthly in 6 languages including: Chinese, French, German, English, Spanish, Arabic.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, She was appointed Vice President of the People's Republic of China, honorary president of the All China Women's Federation and Vice President of the People's Republic of China. She was awarded the Stalin Peace Prize in 1951.
On May 16, 1981, she was admitted to the Communist Party of China, and was awarded the title of Honorary President of the Republic. The people of China, and the only person to be awarded this title.
On May 29, 1981, Ms. Tong Khanh Linh passed away at the age of 88.
