Legendary Azerbaijani singer credited with creating modern Azerbaijani music, she has released more than a dozen successful albums since her career began in the late 1980s. She is also an active television personality. and has organized a series of contests for the Best Model of Azerbaijan.
In 2005, she made her acting debut with the title role in the musical theater Khari Bulbullar.

She studied briefly at the Maarif Technicum Arts before quitting in 1986. Over the next decade she would enter and win several singing and talent competitions before releasing her debut album on 1997.
She gave birth to the youngest child in a family of four children. In 1989, she ran off with her boyfriend Ibrahim Ibrahimov and a year later gave birth to their daughter Ilgara. After their divorce in '91, she married RZA Guliyev.
