Ai Lien was invited by the Bac Ky Drama Association (La Scène Tonkinoise) to play the role of Yen in the play Kimangch Truong Van Tuong by composer Tran Ngoc Diep. After this role, Ai Lien became more famous. She was praised by the French newspaper L'Annam Nouveau . When she was an actress in the troupe La Scène Tonkinoise, she was named Miss Hanoi. In January 1935, Ai Lien unilaterally terminated the contract with La Scène Tonkinoise and was sued by this troupe for breach of contract.
In 1937, Ai Lien and her mother, Mrs. Tran Thi Sinh, founded a singing troupe. "Union". At that time, there were many singing troupes in operation, so the Lien Hiep troupe had to tour many places to attract the audience. But because of poor management ability, the Lien Hiep troupe quickly disbanded at the end of 1937. After the dissolution of the Lien Hiep troupe, Ai Lien joined the male Dai Phuoc Cuong burden.
In 1938, Ai Lien played the role of Dai Phuoc Cuong. collaborated with artist Kim Thoa and Beka record label, released 9 music discs, these were the first new music discs of Vietnamese music at that time. After that, Ai Lien performed a number of foreign music songs written by Vietnamese composers such as "Un Bateau", "Une Chanson Pour Nina", "Santa Lucia", "Guitare d'Amour" ( sing with Nam Chau).

During a singing tour in Nam Vang, the Ai Lien troupe performed in front of the Cambodian Royal Family and received compliments, especially Ai Lien was awarded the Golden Dragon Medal by Prince Sihanouk.
