Who is Painter Pham Van Don?
Pham Van Don is a Vietnamese painter. He used to be the Dean of the Faculty at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts and was a State Officer of the National Center for Cinematography and Photography. He was admitted to the Vietnam Fine Arts Association in 1957. He is the husband of the famous female sculptor Nguyen Thi Kim.
Painter Pham Van Don is a 13th class student of the College of Fine Arts Indochina, graduated in 1944. In 1945, he worked at the Liberation Propaganda Drama troupe of the Vietnam Youth Union. . In 1948, he quit his job at the liberation propaganda troupe and returned to work as the head of the troupe "Soldiers" under the Command of Military Region 4. In painting, Pham Van Don is known for his many petroglyphs, woodcarving, lacquer, silk painting and etching paint. His works use bright colors, bold folk, rustic but have high artistic effect. Some typical paintings of Pham Van Don such as the woodcut "King Quang Trung liberated Thang Long" currently on display at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, the painting "Uncle Ho", "The corner of Hang Mam street", Lacquer painting "O Quan Chuong (60x90cm), petroglyphs on Canh Duong guerrillas: "Canh Duong wharf", "Guerillas laying mines", "Love of soldiers and people", "Mother Mao Le Son", "Old man" militia"...
