Who is Sculptor Nguyen Hai?
Nguyen Hai is a famous Vietnamese sculptor. His father was a composer in the troupe, his mother was an actress, and his relatives have many artistic people. Nguyen Hai himself, he was a soldier of the famous 307 Battalion. This is the place where artists and writers have grown up such as: poet Nguyen Binh, musician Nguyen Huu Tri. In 1956, Nguyen Hai studied at the Fine Arts Intermediate School. In 1958, he graduated from high school and studied at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, course II. In 1963, he graduated from university and was soon admitted to the Vietnam Fine Arts Association. From 1963 to 1977, Nguyen Hai taught at the sculpture department of Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts. After that, he held many important positions such as: Member of the Executive Committee, Member of the Art Council of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, term I); Artist of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association.
During his work, Nguyen Hai has won many achievements such as: First-class Resistance War Medal; Second-class Resistance War Medal; Medal for the cause of Vietnam Fine Arts. ; First Class Labor Medal; Medal for the cause of Vietnam's Literature and Art.
During his creative career, Nguyen Hai won the national fine art prize with the 1.2m high statue of "Dien Bien Phu Victory". This model was once displayed at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. On the 50th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, Nguyen Hai's "Dien Bien Phu victory" was chosen as a monument erected in the center of Dien Bien city. He also won many fine art awards such as: National Fine Arts Exhibition Award, Second Prize of Art Exhibition in 1972, Ho Chi Minh City Art Award in 1985, Second Prize in 1957, First Prize in 1985. , First Prize in the City Martyr Cemetery Project Contest Ho Chi Minh. The 2nd Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Art in 2000.
Ssculptor Nguyen Hai died on November 19, 2012, in Ho Chi Minh City. His body was interred at the Ho Chi Minh City Cemetery.
