Nguyen Thi Kim is the first female sculptor to directly create a statue of Uncle Ho in Tonkin Phu in 1946. Sculptor Nguyen Thi Kim taught at the Vietnam School of Fine Arts from 1945-1956. In May 1946, she and two famous painters, Nguyen Do Cung and To Ngoc Van were allowed to enter. Bac Bo Phu to draw and mold a portrait of the president Ho Chi Minh. From 1947, she taught at the School of Youth and the School of Resistance Culture in Inter-zone 4 until 1953 when she quit her job. During this time, she also worked as a makeup artist for the Giai Phong troupe of The Lu. In 1954, she taught at the Vietnam Fine Arts School in Hanoi. From 1959 - 1961, she worked as a PhD student at the Leningrad Academy of Fine Arts in the Soviet Union. Since 1970, she has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association. She was educated in Laos and Cambodia from 1983-1984. In 1988 she studied abroad in Czechoslovakia and Germany.
