Electrical engineer who created modern radio frequency (FM) modulation. By the end of his career, he was awarded 42 patents and was the recipient of the French Legion of Honor, the Franklin Medal in 1941 and the Edison Medal in 1942, among many other awards.
He jumped to his death from the thirteenth floor of his New York City apartment after losing most of his money due to five legal tussles with the RCA.
