Who is Vietnam War Hero Ngo Van Can?
Ngo Van Can, born Sau Quyen from Kinh ethnic group, Ngo Van Can is a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, used to hold the position of battalion commander of the 9th Infantry Battalion, the local army in Ben Tre province.
Tu when joining the army until 1972, he participated in revolutionary activities in the province Ben Tre. Comrade participated in 210 of our battles, Ngo Van Can led the army to capture 120 enemies alive, killed more than 2,000, and obtained 100 guns of all kinds. He personally captured 13 evil enemies, injured 185, obtained 7 communication machines and 35 guns of all kinds. In one of his battles, there was a battle where he did not hesitate to shoot the enemy with a medium-machine gun from the very beginning, and he used his gun to shoot hard at the enemy's area, creating opportunities for the soldiers to fight. Our soldiers rushed to destroy the enemy army. Ngo Van Can once commanded 10 Vietnamese soldiers who pretended to be puppet soldiers to destroy an enemy platoon and return safely. Comrade has built 40 revolutionary bases in the three war zones of the enemy, of which, there are 15 uprising bases to destroy evil and bring weapons to the revolution. He also trained 25 teenagers to be face-to-face contacts, and mobilized hundreds of young people to join the guerrillas and the army. On February 22, 1972, after commanding to destroy Cau Dan post, Ngo Van Can heroically sacrificed himself.
Ngo Van Can was awarded the First-class Victory Medal by the Party and State, the Third-class Victory Medal, and was elected twice as an emulation soldier.
On November 6, 1978, he was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
