Phan Dinh Dieu is a Vietnamese mathematician, computer scientist, and professor. He is the person who has been recognized as a pioneer in the training and development plan of Vietnam's Informatics industry. He is also a well-known expert in the fields of constructivist mathematics, algorithm theory, mathematical logic, automath and formal languages, cryptographic theory and information security. He was also the first director of the Institute of Computational Science and Control - the Vietnam Institute of Information Technology today, the founding chairman of the Vietnam Informatics Association, and the Standing Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board. He was a member of the V and VI National Assembly, and a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term III to VII. He is a man with great merit in bringing the Internet to Vietnam. Throughout his life, Professor Phan Dinh Dieu is a person who has made many contributions to the country. He is famous for being an honest and enthusiastic scientist.

On May 13, 2018, Professor Phan Dinh Dieu's family announced the sad news of his passing. According to information from the family, the ceremony to visit Professor Dieu will begin at the funeral home of 108 Military Central Hospital from 9:30 a.m. on May 18. The memorial service will take place at 10:30. His body will be interred on the same day at Lac Hong Vien Cemetery in Ky Son Hoa Binh province.
Mr. Phan Dinh Dieu graduated valedictorian in Mathematics from the University of Pedagogy. He used to teach at the University of Pedagogy. After that, he went to the Soviet Union (former) to study Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, at Moscow State University.
In 1971, he returned home and was offered the position of Head of Mathematics Department. calculation of the State Scientific Committee. At this time, the whole country has only one set of computers located here. He spends time researching and developing computer applications in his work and building a team that is good at computers.

Professor Phan Dinh Dieu is married to teacher Van Thi Xuan Huong, she is the younger sister of Professor Van Like Cuong. His children have achieved many high achievements in science.
His daughter is Associate Professor Dr. Phan Thi Ha Duong. His son Phan Duong Hieu has a doctorate in security from the Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris.
